Recipe – Grilled Oysters – Chinese street food style

On my China vacation a few years ago, a recipe stuck in my head: fresh Chinese grilled oysters. For less than the equivalent of 1 € you got these delicious grilled specialties, original street food style.

I got the recipe from the local chef to cook this delicacy, it does not take much. Although oysters are expensive in Europe, they do not cost much if you buy them fresh on the market and prepare them yourself. Of course you can grill oysters as a joint activity with guests or children. This is how to learn the natural cycle that begins with the consumption of animal food, the circulation in the animal. If you open the oysters, they should still “twitch” when you stroke them. This shows that the oysters are still fresh and alive. Although this sounds brutal, it only shows the important freshness of the product. And now I wish you a lot of fun with the “barbecue” of the recipe.

Ingredients

  • fresh oysters
  • garlic
  • spring onions
  • ginger
  • Soy sauce
  • Oysters sauce

Recipe

Time needed: 40 minutes.

  1. Prepare Barbecue

You light the grill, while the coal glows, you prepare the oysters. You do not need a lot of coals. More important is that the fire is very punctual and hot burning.

  2. Prepare Ingredients

For 6 oysters you chop 2 toes of garlic, a table tennis ball big piece of ginger, a big spring onion small

  3. Prepare sauce

Now mix all the ingredients together and add about 100ml oyster sauce. Mix everything well together, soy sauce helps to bring a little more salty spice in the whole thing.

  4. Barbecue

Open the oysters and pour the oyster water. The sauce is generously distributed over the oysters and put on the grill. When the sauce starts to caramelize while oysters are cooking, the oysters are ready. It is important that you do not overcook the oysters. It’s best to grill the oysters hot and not too long. Then they taste the best.

  5. Bon appetit

胃口 好 – (Bon appetit in Chinese)
